ABS Hydraulic Pump Motor Circuit Short To Ground
C1097 — ABS Hydraulic Pump Motor Circuit Short To Ground
System: Chassis | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Generic
C1097 is a manufacturer-specific chassis diagnostic trouble code. It belongs to the C-prefix family of codes, which covers chassis, braking, steering, suspension, or stability-control faults.
When C1097 is stored, the module has detected a short-circuit (voltage pulled to ground or to supply) in the monitored circuit.
Scanning & clearing: Chassis (C) codes are stored in the ABS, traction control, or stability-control modules. An enhanced or OEM-level scan tool is usually required to read and clear them.
C1097 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
DTC C1097 is a chassis code set by the ABS or stability control module when it detects a short to ground in the hydraulic pump motor circuit. The module drives an electric pump motor to build the hydraulic pressure required for anti lock braking, traction control, and stability control. C1097 sets when the motor supply or control circuit is shorted to ground, which the module detects as excessive current draw or as a circuit pulled low when it should be at supply voltage. This commonly results from chafed wiring contacting the body or chassis, water intrusion at a connector, or an internal sho...
