ABS Hydraulic Pump Motor Circuit Short To Battery
C1098 — ABS Hydraulic Pump Motor Circuit Short To Battery
System: Chassis | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Generic
C1098 is a manufacturer-specific chassis diagnostic trouble code. It belongs to the C-prefix family of codes, which covers chassis, braking, steering, suspension, or stability-control faults.
When C1098 is stored, the module has detected a short-circuit (voltage pulled to ground or to supply) in the monitored circuit.
Scanning & clearing: Chassis (C) codes are stored in the ABS, traction control, or stability-control modules. An enhanced or OEM-level scan tool is usually required to read and clear them.
C1098 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
DTC C1098 is a chassis code set by the ABS or stability control module when it detects a short to battery voltage in the hydraulic pump motor circuit. The module drives an electric pump motor to build the hydraulic pressure needed for anti lock braking, traction control, and stability control. C1098 sets when the motor control circuit reads battery voltage at a time the module expects it to be low or controlled, indicating the circuit is shorted to a power feed. This often results from chafed wiring touching an adjacent powered conductor, a short within the connector, or a fault in the motor o...
