Accelerometer Rear Circuit Signal Is Not Sensed
C1436 — Accelerometer Rear Circuit Signal Is Not Sensed
System: Chassis | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Generic
C1436 is a manufacturer-specific chassis diagnostic trouble code. It belongs to the C-prefix family of codes, which covers chassis, braking, steering, suspension, or stability-control faults.
When C1436 is stored, the module has detected an electrical-circuit fault in the wiring, connector, or driver associated with the named component.
Scanning & clearing: Chassis (C) codes are stored in the ABS, traction control, or stability-control modules. An enhanced or OEM-level scan tool is usually required to read and clear them.
C1436 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
The C1436 fault code indicates the suspension control module is not receiving any signal from the rear accelerometer circuit. Where C1435 covers a general circuit failure including out of range or implausible signals, C1436 specifically indicates the signal is absent (typically a flatline at 0V or at the supply rail) suggesting an open circuit, missing reference voltage, or a non responsive sensor. The rear accelerometer reports vertical body acceleration at the rear of the vehicle, used by the module for adaptive damping calculations. When this code is active, the module has no rear body moti...
