Left Rear Centre Sensor Circuit Short to Vbat
C1705 — Left Rear Centre Sensor Circuit Short to Vbat
System: Chassis | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Ford
C1705 is a manufacturer-specific chassis diagnostic trouble code recorded for Ford vehicles. It belongs to the C-prefix family of codes, which covers chassis, braking, steering, suspension, or stability-control faults.
When C1705 is stored, the module has detected a short-circuit (voltage pulled to ground or to supply) in the monitored circuit; and a sensor-related fault — the reported value from the named sensor is out of spec.
Scanning & clearing: Chassis (C) codes are stored in the ABS, traction control, or stability-control modules. An enhanced or OEM-level scan tool is usually required to read and clear them.
C1705 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
DTC C1705 is set by the Parking Aid Module (PAM) when it detects that the left rear centre parking aid sensor circuit is shorted to battery voltage (Vbat). Rear parking aid systems with four bumper sensors use two outer and two centre ultrasonic sensors to cover the full width of the vehicle when reverse is selected, and the module monitors each sensor circuit for open circuits, shorts to ground, and shorts to voltage. When the signal or return circuit for the left rear centre sensor reads at or near battery voltage instead of its expected level, the module sets C1705, disables the parking aid...
