DTC C1706 is set by the Parking Aid Module (PAM) when it detects a general circuit failure on the left rear centre parking aid sensor, typically an open circuit or no response from the sensor when it is commanded to transmit. Four sensor rear parking aid systems use two outer and two centre ultrasonic sensors across the rear bumper, and the module checks each sensor circuit for opens, shorts, and missing responses every time reverse is selected.
