Seat Track Position Switch Circuit Resistance Out of Range
C1948 — Seat Track Position Switch Circuit Resistance Out of Range
System: Chassis | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Generic
C1948 is a manufacturer-specific chassis diagnostic trouble code. It belongs to the C-prefix family of codes, which covers chassis, braking, steering, suspension, or stability-control faults.
When C1948 is stored, the module has detected a plausibility fault — the measured value is in the electrical range but is not consistent with expected operating behaviour.
Scanning & clearing: Chassis (C) codes are stored in the ABS, traction control, or stability-control modules. An enhanced or OEM-level scan tool is usually required to read and clear them.
C1948 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
The seat track position switch tells the airbag, or SRS, control module whether the driver seat is positioned forward or rearward on its track. Many of these switches use a resistance based scheme so the module can detect position as well as open and short faults from a single circuit. DTC C1948 sets when the SRS module measures a circuit resistance that falls outside the expected range for any valid switch position, typically caused by high resistance from corrosion, a partial short, or a switch that has drifted out of specification. When this code is set the airbag warning lamp illuminates a...
