Code Information

The lateral accelerometer measures side to side cornering force, or lateral g, and reports it to the stability control module, which compares it against steering angle, yaw rate, and wheel speed to detect understeer and oversteer. The sensor is often part of a combined yaw and g sensor cluster. DTC C1951 sets when the module detects an open circuit in the lateral accelerometer circuit, losing the signal, supply, or return path so it cannot read lateral acceleration.
