The Body Control Module (BCM) monitors the left rear door ajar switch circuit to detect whether the door is open or closed. DTC B1572 sets when the BCM detects a sustained open circuit condition in the left rear door ajar switch circuit, meaning the signal wire shows a permanently disconnected state regardless of door position. The door ajar switch is normally a plunger style switch within the door latch assembly that grounds the signal wire when the door is open, monitored by an internal pull up reference inside the BCM.
