Code Information

The B1843 fault code is set by the Generic Electronic Module (GEM) or Central Timing Module (CTM) when it detects a short to ground on the front wiper motor power supply circuit. The module monitors the wiper power feed and expects to see battery voltage at the monitor pin when the wiper relay is commanded closed. When the module commands the relay closed and sees the voltage immediately collapse to near zero, accompanied by a high current draw that often blows the wiper fuse, it stores B1843.
