When B1847 is stored, the module has detected a short-circuit (voltage pulled to ground or to supply) in the monitored circuit.

Code Information

The B1847 fault code is set by the Body Control Module (BCM) or Generic Electronic Module (GEM) when it detects battery voltage on the ignition tamper switch input circuit. The tamper switch normally either pulls the signal low when activated or floats at a reference voltage from the module, depending on platform. When the module sees a constant high voltage on this circuit that it did not expect, it interprets the condition as a short to battery and stores B1847.
