Code Information

The B1848 fault code is set by the Body Control Module (BCM) or Generic Electronic Module (GEM) when it detects that the ignition tamper switch input is permanently shorted to ground. When the signal is held at or near zero volts continuously, the module interprets the circuit as a short to ground and stores B1848.
