About B1902

B1902 is a manufacturer-specific body diagnostic trouble code. It belongs to the B-prefix family of codes, which covers body, interior, airbag, or comfort-electronics faults.

When B1902 is stored, the module has detected a sensor-related fault — the reported value from the named sensor is out of spec.

Scanning & clearing: Body (B) codes are often stored in the body control module, airbag module, or climate module. A basic OBD-II tool usually will not read body codes — an enhanced or OEM-level scan tool is typically required.

B1902 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.

Code Information

The Restraints Control Module (RCM, also called the Airbag Control Module or SRS module) provides a clean dedicated ground or signal return to each remote crash sensor and monitors the integrity of that reference. DTC B1902 sets when the RCM detects that the ground or return circuit to Crash Sensor #1 is faulty, typically because the ground wire is open, has high resistance, or is making poor contact with the sensor or with the module ground bus. Crash sensors must have a low impedance ground reference for their acceleration signal to be valid, so even a few extra ohms in the ground path can c...
