Code Information

DTC B2142 is set when a control module detects that the Transmitter ID Code (TIC) values stored in its Non Volatile Memory (NVM) are missing, corrupted, or invalid. The TIC values are the unique identifiers associated with each programmed transponder key in the immobilizer or PATS system. When the module cannot read a valid set of key transmitter IDs from its memory, it cannot authenticate keys at engine start and the vehicle will refuse to start.
