Code Information

The camshaft position (Cam) sensor tells the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) the rotational position of the camshaft, which the PCM uses to identify cylinder events for sequential fuel injection and, on many engines, ignition timing. DTC P1174 sets when the PCM detects a fault with the camshaft sensor signal, such as a missing, intermittent, or implausible input that does not correlate correctly with the crankshaft signal.
