Engine Torque Adaption At Limit
P1336 — Engine Torque Adaption At Limit
System: Powertrain | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Audi
P1336 is a manufacturer-specific powertrain diagnostic trouble code recorded for Audi vehicles. It belongs to the P-prefix family of codes, which covers engine, transmission, emissions, or fuel-system faults.
Scanning & clearing: A generic OBD-II scan tool will usually read and clear powertrain (P) codes. For live data, freeze-frame capture, and bi-directional tests you may need a more capable scan tool that supports the vehicle's ECM protocol.
P1336 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
The Engine Control Module maintains an adaptation that corrects its internal torque model for the individual engine, compensating for normal manufacturing spread, mechanical friction, ancillary loads and gradual component wear. Over time the module trims that adaptation so the torque it calculates matches the torque the engine genuinely produces, which keeps idle control, driveaway and gearshift coordination accurate. DTC P1336 is stored when that torque adaptation reaches the end of its permitted range and the module can correct no further. The underlying cause is a real and progressive chang...
