Code Information

The Engine Control Module maintains an adaptation that corrects its internal torque model for the individual engine, compensating for normal manufacturing spread, mechanical friction, ancillary loads and gradual component wear. Over time the module trims that adaptation so the torque it calculates matches the torque the engine genuinely produces, which keeps idle control, driveaway and gearshift coordination accurate.
