Fuel pressure sensor supply voltage fault
P1192 — Fuel pressure sensor supply voltage fault
System: Powertrain | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Volkswagen
P1192 is a manufacturer-specific powertrain diagnostic trouble code recorded for Volkswagen vehicles. It belongs to the P-prefix family of codes, which covers engine, transmission, emissions, or fuel-system faults.
When P1192 is stored, the module has detected a sensor-related fault — the reported value from the named sensor is out of spec.
Scanning & clearing: A generic OBD-II scan tool will usually read and clear powertrain (P) codes. For live data, freeze-frame capture, and bi-directional tests you may need a more capable scan tool that supports the vehicle's ECM protocol.
P1192 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
The fuel pressure sensor is a three wire piezoresistive sensor that reports rail pressure to the Engine Control Module (ECM), which uses it to control the fuel pressure regulating valve, calculate injector opening times and protect the injection system from over pressure. The ECM supplies the sensor with a regulated reference voltage, usually 5V, together with a sensor ground, and reads back a signal voltage proportional to pressure. DTC P1192 is set when the ECM detects a fault in that supply voltage to the fuel pressure sensor, meaning the reference is missing, collapsed, or outside its perm...
