When P1193 is stored, the module has detected an open (broken or disconnected) electrical path in the monitored circuit; a short-circuit (voltage pulled to ground or to supply) in the monitored circuit; and a sensor-related fault — the reported value from the named sensor is out of spec.

Scanning & clearing: A generic OBD-II scan tool will usually read and clear powertrain (P) codes. For live data, freeze-frame capture, and bi-directional tests you may need a more capable scan tool that supports the vehicle's ECM protocol.

Code Information

The fuel pressure sensor is a three wire piezoresistive sensor fitted to the fuel rail, fed with a 5V reference and a sensor ground by the Engine Control Module (ECM), and returning a signal voltage proportional to rail pressure. The ECM uses that signal to close the loop on the fuel pressure regulating valve, to calculate injector opening times, and to protect the injection system from over pressure, so it is one of the most important inputs on the fuel system.
