Code Information

DTC P1442 is set when the Engine Control Module (ECM) detects a small leak in the evaporative emission control system, typically a leak of around 0.040 inch or larger, found while the system is checked under positive pressure. The EVAP system seals fuel vapour from the tank into a charcoal canister and purges it into the engine through the purge control valve, and the whole circuit must remain sealed to pass the test.
