Code Information

The EVAP canister vent control valve controls the fresh air vent for the charcoal canister on these Nissan and Infiniti vehicles. It is normally open to let fresh air into the canister as stored fuel vapour is purged into the engine, and the Engine Control Module (ECM) closes it to seal the EVAP system when running a leak test. DTC P1446 is set for a vent control valve close malfunction, where the ECM detects the valve closed or restricted when it should be open, or an improper voltage in the close control.
