Code Information

The EVAP canister vent control valve on Nissan vehicles controls the fresh air vent for the charcoal canister. During normal operation it stays open to let air into the canister for purging, and the Engine Control Module (ECM) closes it to seal the EVAP system for leak testing. DTC P1446 sets when the ECM detects the vent control valve circuit is faulty or the valve is stuck closed, so the canister cannot vent or the system behaves incorrectly during the diagnostic.
