Code Information

The canister drain cut valve, sometimes called the canister close or vent valve, controls whether the charcoal canister is open to atmosphere. On the 1.8L the Engine Control Module (ECM) closes this valve to seal the evaporative system during a leak test and opens it for normal canister purging. DTC P1449 sets when the ECM detects the canister drain cut valve control circuit open or shorted, with the driver current outside the expected range.
