Code Information

The Restraint Control Module (RCM) — also known as the Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) on GM-based Holden platforms — continuously monitors the resistance of each airbag deployment loop to confirm that the loop is electrically ready to fire the squib (igniter) if a crash is detected. The RCM does this by passing a very small diagnostic current through the squib and measuring the resulting voltage to calculate loop resistance.
