The Restraint Control Module (RCM) continuously monitors the resistance of each airbag deployment loop to ensure the squib circuits are intact and ready to fire. B1017 sets when the RCM detects an open circuit (infinite or excessively high resistance) in the right hand deployment loop, which on most Holden platforms corresponds to the passenger front airbag squib or the right side curtain/thorax airbag.
