Code Information

The gear select position sensor, also called the transmission range sensor or shift position sensor, informs the control module which gear or range the driver has selected. DTC C1136 sets when the control module detects the gear select position signal circuit shorted to ground, producing a voltage at or near zero that falls outside the valid operating range.
