Code Information

The body control module monitors voltage on the wiper mode select switch input and sets DTC B1440 when it detects an unintended short to battery voltage on this circuit. The wiper mode select switch normally pulls the BCM input from a high reference voltage down to discrete lower steps as the driver moves through wiper positions. With battery voltage shorted onto the input, the BCM sees an out of range high signal that does not match any valid switch position and the module cannot determine which mode the driver has selected.
