Code Information

The Body Control Module (BCM) monitors the seat belt switch circuit for an expected voltage or resistance value that changes when the buckle is fastened. DTC B1463 is set when the BCM detects an open circuit on the signal wire between the seat belt switch and the module. The seat belt switch is a normally open or normally closed contact in the buckle assembly that completes the circuit when the latch plate is engaged, allowing the BCM to determine occupant restraint state.
