Code Information

The Body Control Module (BCM) monitors the seat belt switch signal voltage to determine buckle state. DTC B1464 is set when the BCM detects voltage on the seat belt switch signal wire that is higher than the calibrated maximum threshold, indicating a short to battery voltage somewhere in the circuit. The seat belt switch normally pulls the signal pin to ground (or to a low reference voltage) when the buckle is fastened, so an external 12V source contacting the wire prevents the BCM from ever seeing a valid switch state.
