B1833 is a manufacturer-specific body diagnostic trouble code recorded for Ford vehicles. It belongs to the B-prefix family of codes, which covers body, interior, airbag, or comfort-electronics faults.
When B1833 is stored, the module has detected a short-circuit (voltage pulled to ground or to supply) in the monitored circuit.

DTC B1833 is set when the Body Control Module (BCM) detects that the Door Unlock Disarm Switch input is shorted to ground on Ford vehicles equipped with the Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS). The disarm switch lives in the driver door key lock cylinder assembly and provides a momentary signal to the BCM when the cylinder is rotated to the unlock position to disarm the antitheft alarm. When the BCM continuously sees the input pulled to ground regardless of cylinder position, it interprets the disarm input as constantly active or shorted and stores B1833.
