When P1884 is stored, the module has detected a short-circuit (voltage pulled to ground or to supply) in the monitored circuit.

Code Information

The engine coolant level warning lamp alerts the driver to low coolant, and is driven by the instrument cluster or PCM through a lamp control circuit. The controlling module switches the lamp on and off and monitors the control circuit for correct voltage, so it can detect electrical faults on that output. DTC P1884 sets when the module detects a short to ground on the coolant level lamp circuit, meaning the control line is being pulled low when the module is not commanding it.
