Wiper Brake/Run Relay Circuit Short To Ground
B1433 — Wiper Brake/Run Relay Circuit Short To Ground
System: Body | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Generic
B1433 is a manufacturer-specific body diagnostic trouble code. It belongs to the B-prefix family of codes, which covers body, interior, airbag, or comfort-electronics faults.
When B1433 is stored, the module has detected a short-circuit (voltage pulled to ground or to supply) in the monitored circuit.
Scanning & clearing: Body (B) codes are often stored in the body control module, airbag module, or climate module. A basic OBD-II tool usually will not read body codes — an enhanced or OEM-level scan tool is typically required.
B1433 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
The body control module monitors voltage on the wiper brake/run relay control or output circuit and sets DTC B1433 when it detects an unintended short to ground on this circuit. The wiper brake/run relay supplies the high current feed and brake function to the wiper motor when commanded by the BCM. With a short to ground on the relay control side, the relay coil cannot energise correctly and the BCM sees a continuously low signal that does not respond to commands. Symptoms typically include wipers that will not run, wipers that operate intermittently, or wipers that fail to return to park, and...
