About B1435

B1435 is a manufacturer-specific body diagnostic trouble code. It belongs to the B-prefix family of codes, which covers body, interior, airbag, or comfort-electronics faults.

When B1435 is stored, the module has detected an open (broken or disconnected) electrical path in the monitored circuit; and a signal or supply voltage lower than the expected operating range.

Scanning & clearing: Body (B) codes are often stored in the body control module, airbag module, or climate module. A basic OBD-II tool usually will not read body codes — an enhanced or OEM-level scan tool is typically required.

B1435 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.

Code Information

The body control module monitors the wiper hi/low speed relay coil control circuit and sets DTC B1435 when it detects an open circuit, meaning the BCM cannot establish the current path through the relay coil that is required to energise the relay. The hi/low speed relay routes wiper motor current to either the low speed or high speed motor brush so the BCM can switch between wiper speeds in response to the wiper switch input. With the coil circuit open, the relay never pulls in and the affected wiper speed becomes unavailable. Symptoms typically include wipers stuck on a single speed, no wiper...
