Code Information

The body control module monitors voltage on the wiper hi/low speed relay coil control circuit and sets DTC B1436 when it detects an unintended short to battery voltage on this circuit. The hi/low speed relay routes wiper motor current between the low and high speed brushes when commanded by the BCM. With battery voltage present on the coil control wire when no command is active, the BCM cannot pull the coil to ground correctly and may see the relay energised continuously or unable to be commanded off.
