Code Information

The Body Control Module (BCM) monitors the rest position of the rear wiper using a park sense input wired to a cam driven switch internal to the rear wiper motor. DTC B1823 sets when the BCM detects an open circuit on the rear wiper park sense input, meaning the sense signal is permanently missing or the circuit is broken somewhere between the motor and the BCM. Without a valid park signal the BCM cannot determine when the rear wiper has reached its rest position, so the rear wiper may stop in the middle of the screen, fail to operate at all, or run continuously when commanded off.
