About B1829

B1829 is a manufacturer-specific body diagnostic trouble code. It belongs to the B-prefix family of codes, which covers body, interior, airbag, or comfort-electronics faults.

When B1829 is stored, the module has detected a short-circuit (voltage pulled to ground or to supply) in the monitored circuit; and a signal or supply voltage higher than the expected operating range.

Scanning & clearing: Body (B) codes are often stored in the body control module, airbag module, or climate module. A basic OBD-II tool usually will not read body codes — an enhanced or OEM-level scan tool is typically required.

B1829 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.

Code Information

The B1829 code is set by the Body Control Module (BCM) when it detects the rear wiper high limit (park sense) input shorted to ground. The rear wiper motor includes an internal park switch that signals the BCM when the blade is at its uppermost rest position so the BCM can remove drive voltage at the correct point. With the park sense circuit shorted to ground, the BCM sees a constant low signal regardless of wiper position and can no longer use the input to control park behaviour. Drivers may notice the rear wiper failing to park, refusing to operate, running on after the switch is turned off...
