When P1145 is stored, the module has detected a short-circuit (voltage pulled to ground or to supply) in the monitored circuit; a signal or supply voltage lower than the expected operating range; and a sensor-related fault — the reported value from the named sensor is out of spec.

Scanning & clearing: A generic OBD-II scan tool will usually read and clear powertrain (P) codes. For live data, freeze-frame capture, and bi-directional tests you may need a more capable scan tool that supports the vehicle's ECM protocol.

Code Information

The mass air flow sensor measures the air entering the engine and reports it to the Engine Control Module (ECM), which uses the value to set the fuel quantity and ignition timing. DTC P1145 is stored when the ECM detects that the mass air flow signal circuit is shorted to a positive supply, driving the signal voltage abnormally high. The high signal makes the ECM see far more air than the engine is drawing, which upsets fuelling. Symptoms can include a rich running condition, black smoke, poor fuel economy, hesitation, and a reduced power limp mode with an illuminated check engine lamp.
