The upstream heated oxygen sensor on Bank 2, identified as sensor 1, measures the oxygen content of the exhaust and lets the Engine Control Module (ECM) trim fuelling to hold the correct mixture. DTC P1147 is stored when this sensor reports a persistently lean mixture on Bank 2 that the fuel control cannot correct. The cause may be a genuine lean condition such as unmetered air or low fuel delivery, an exhaust leak drawing air past the sensor, or a sensor that is biased lean.
