Code Information

The Engine Control Module (ECM) uses the Bank 2 Camshaft Position A (intake) sensor to monitor where the intake camshaft sits relative to crankshaft rotation, and commands the Variable Valve Timing (VVT) phaser through a Pulse Width Modulated oil control valve to advance or retard the cam. DTC P0022 is set when the ECM measures that actual intake cam position on Bank 2 is more retarded than the commanded value, or that the phaser will not advance when oil pressure and control commands tell it to move.
