Code Information

The primary or upstream heated oxygen sensor, HO2S #1 on bank 1, supplies the Engine Control Module (ECM) with a voltage that reflects the air fuel ratio and is the key feedback for closed loop fuel control. For accurate trimming the signal must be electrically stable and within range. DTC P1162 sets when the ECM detects a hard electrical fault in this sensor circuit, such as an open, a short, or high resistance, causing the signal to be missing or out of the expected range during the monitored period.
