Code Information

The fuel temperature sensor is a negative temperature coefficient thermistor fitted in the fuel supply or return circuit, commonly in the fuel filter housing, the fuel rail or the injection pump, and it is fed a 5V reference by the Engine Control Module (ECM) through an internal pull up resistor. The ECM uses fuel temperature to correct for the change in fuel density with heat, adjusting injection quantity and timing so that fuelling stays accurate as the fuel warms, and on diesel applications it also uses the value to protect the injection system from excessive fuel temperature.
