DTC P1162 is a Honda specific code indicating an electrical malfunction in the primary, or upstream, Heated Oxygen Sensor (Sensor 1) circuit. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relies on the primary sensor signal for closed loop fuel control and continuously monitors the circuit for opens, shorts, and out of range voltage. P1162 sets when the PCM sees a circuit fault such as a loss of signal, a short to ground or to voltage, or a value that cannot be valid for a working sensor.
