The front heated oxygen sensor reports exhaust oxygen content to the Engine Control Module (ECM), which trims fuel to hold the ideal air fuel ratio. This code sets when the ECM detects that the bank 2 mixture has shifted lean beyond the range it can correct, based on the front sensor feedback and fuel trim.
