B1023 — Integral switch performance malfunction
System: Body | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Holden
B1023 is a manufacturer-specific body diagnostic trouble code recorded for Holden vehicles. It belongs to the B-prefix family of codes, which covers body, interior, airbag, or comfort-electronics faults.
When B1023 is stored, the module has detected a plausibility fault — the measured value is in the electrical range but is not consistent with expected operating behaviour.
Scanning & clearing: Body (B) codes are often stored in the body control module, airbag module, or climate module. A basic OBD-II tool usually will not read body codes — an enhanced or OEM-level scan tool is typically required.
B1023 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
The Body Control Module (BCM) in Holden vehicles monitors the integral switch assembly, which on many models is the multi function column switch or integrated header switch panel that controls functions such as external lighting, wipers, washers, and turn signals. DTC B1023 sets when the BCM detects a performance fault from one of the integrated switch circuits, typically an implausible input such as two mutually exclusive positions active at once, an out of range resistance on a multiplexed switch line, or a signal that does not match expected patterns during a timed sampling. These switches ...
